This week my family and others will be gathering across the country, catching up with loved ones, kissing new babies, sitting down to feast. But many are still waiting for a family, still waiting to know they are loved, still waiting for a kiss. To honor them, a short poem for this final week of National Adoption Month:
God places the lonely in families
He moves
We open the door
Set the table
Fluff the bed
Welcome the desolate
And deserted
From across the street
Or across the world
Three participants
One family
One name
Chosen.
“God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy,” Psalm 68:6
HAPPY THANKSGIVING! This week, may you know the joy that welcomes the lonely and sets prisoners free.
